Get in

Highway 401, a major artery that follows the entire southern Ontario coast, has its west termination in Windsor.

Windsor is easily accessible by crossing the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel or the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit.

Windsor is full of great restaurants. What is surprising for Windsor's size is its broad variety of diverse and ethnic cuisine.

• Terra Cotta Pizzeria 318 Pelissier St. Personalized pizza cooked in an authentic stone oven with a traditional thin crust."
• May Wah Inn 1689 University Ave West. This is the best Chinese restaurant in Windsor. The restaurant offers a wide variety of traditional Hong Kong style Cantonese dishes along with the regular not-so-traditional Chinese dishes. Be sure to ask for the translated Chinese menu for the traditional fare. The restaurant features Dim Sum from opening until 4 PM daily.
• Cook's Shop Restaurant 683 Ouellette Ave. Italian food served in a romantic European atmosphere. Canadian Black Angus beef, lamb, chops, fish, freshly-made pasta dishes and desserts prepared at tableside. Romantic 'most engaged' restaurant. January 2000 Free Press review awarded 4 out of 4 stars; also featured in Hour magazine.
• MamO Bistro 5880 Wyandotte E. MamO uses ingredients most Windsorites don?t cook with every day, or treats them differently. No dish has fewer than four featured ingredients, but the ingenious combinations enable all to seem to star at once. The watchword is fresh, on a short menu that allows a one-man show to keep up with demand.
• Mini Restaurant 475 University. This "mini"-spot serves Vietnamese food at its best: a wonderful combination of contrasting textures and subtle tastes. If Chinese food is a symphony, Vietnamese is chamber music. Soups, such as vegetable congee, are highlights, or try the amazing variety of bean drinks and exotic fruit slushes.

Windsor is a very multicultural city. Due to our lower drinking age (19) we unfortunately have people from the United States crossing over just to drink and many times causing trouble. Windsor is very strict about drinking and driving. Here are some of the bars downtown.
