Free Travel guide Ooaj.com A free travel guide for holidays. Hotels in vladivostok, Bed and Breakfast!
Vladivostok is a city in Russia and is at the eastern terminus of the Trans-Siberian Railway. It is the home of the Russian Pacific Fleet, and as such was off-limits to foreigners and Russians alike until 1992, though it is now opening up to tourism.
You can reach Japan from here. Ferries leave on alternate weeks for the ports of Niigata and Fushiki. Fares are from ¥25,200 ($235) one-way and the trip takes 2 days. A schedule for the Fushiki-Vladivostok line is here (http://www.euras.co.jp/en/ship.html), though it may be outdated.
The airport code is VVO and a list of carriers servicing the airport is available at WikiPedia:Vladivostok_International_Airport
The airport is 30 km (19 mi) from the centre. There are suburban trains and local buses.
A virtual Historic Walking Tour (http://www.wsulibs.wsu.edu/Vladivostok/index.html) of Vladivostok has been put together by Washington State University and the Far Eastern National University (http://www.fenu.ru).
The Far Eastern National University (http://www.fenu.ru) is one of the top 5 Russian universities and has over 35,000 students. It offers Russian courses online (http://en.openuniversity.ru/?section=9) for foreigners at $200 a cr or on campus. The Vladivostok State University of Economics (http://www.vvsu.ru/eng/) also offers Russian Courses for foreigners (http://www.vvsu.ru/fryai/eng/) at decent prices. Both universities can set you up in their dorms as well as do the necessary paperwork for you to study in Russia.
