![]() Get in![]() By roadRoute 1095 connects Pai with Mae Hong Son (140 km) and Chiang Mai (140 km). It's a very scenic drive through the mountains but takes several hours as it's a steep and windy drive (but worth it), with lots curves. So, having a plastic bag and some motion-sickness pills and refreshments with you is recommended. ![]() By busRegular buses go to Chiang Mai (Arcade terminal) and Mae Hong Son, each is a 4 hours drive. Both public buses and private minibuses are available (all travel agents sell tickets fopr the latter). ![]() By planeThere's no airport in Pai so head for Chiang Mai. ![]() By trainThere`s no train service to Pai. ![]() Get aroundThe town itself is best explored on foot. A popular option is hiring a motorbike or bicycle to discover the region. Both are available at affordable rates from many agents along the main street. ![]() SeeThe town itself has no special sights, people come for the relaxed atmosphere. ![]() DoTake a bicycle (60-100 baht per day) or motorbike (140 baht and up) and visit one of the nearby waterfalls and hill-tribe villages. Pai is also a major starting point for organized trekking tours which are on offer at every guesthouse and travel agent. White water rafting is also available. ![]() BuyTake a look at some of the hill-tribe members selling handcrafts. ![]() Eat & DrinkFor such a small town, there's an astonishing number of restaurants - most of them catering for the travellers needs/tastes. Just choose the one that fits you best. You can find many western atmosphere bars in Pai, especially along the main street that leads to the Chiang Mai- Pai bus stop. If you love to drink tea and coffee, Pai is perfect. There are many tea and coffee shops, including herbal brews. ![]() CommunicationSeveral Internet cafes offer access, most on Thanon Ratchadamnoen and Thanon Rangthiyanon. ![]() SleepThere's an abundance of guesthouses in Pai, most of them in the budget range.
