Noosa is a city on Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Of the major settlements along that coast, Noosa is generally the most expensive and "touristy", catering increasingly for an upmarket and well-heeled clientele.
While still a beachside city, Noosa is more of a place to "see and be seen". Prices tend towards the higher end for most purchases.
Fly to Sunshine Coast airport at Maroochydoore, 30km to the south. From the airport, take a taxi or a regular bus, or rent a car.
The nearest stations to Noosa are at Nambour or Maryborough, with a connecting bus or taxi required.
Drive north of Brisbane along the Bruce Highway for approximately 150km, taking the Noosa / Eumundi turn off.
Scuba Diving in Laguna bay.
Surfing Lessons at one of the many surf schools.
Take an organised tour to nearby Fraser Island.
Noosa's most famous shopping strip is Hastings Street, a veritable paradise for the shopaholic. Just be careful to spend within your limits, which is not always easy to do.
Noosa is famous for its upmarket and luxury hotels. Highly recommended is the Noosa Sheraton, part of the global chain and with everything you would expect from a Sheraton hotel. Attached to the hotel is Cato's Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
As in any developed-world city, take the usual precautions against theft.
When swimming, swim between the red and yellow flags which mark the safest part of the beach. It's more crowded, but the alternative is a trip to the emergency room or worse. Always remember not to leave valuables unattended on the beach when swimming.
