By Train

Several trains a day run on the scenic West Highland Railway to Fort William and Glasgow.

By Bus

A Monday-Saturday bus runs to Fort William and a summer bus runs to Oban.

By Boat

CalMac (http://www.calmac.co.uk/) run most of the Scottish ferries, with more running in summer than winter.

From Mallaig they go to the Small Isles: Rum, Eigg, Muck and Canna most days. Several ferries a day run to Armadale on Skye.

Bruce Watt Cruises (http://www.knoydart-ferry.co.uk/) run ferries to Inverie on the Knoydart Peninsula.

Do

Make sure you visit Mallaig Marine World (http://www.road-to-the-isles.org.uk/marine-world.html) which is an intersting little place right on the harbour in Mallaig. The idea of the place to give you an idea of the sea life found of the west coast of Scotland which is quite varied. Make sure you see the octopus! It has quite an attitude!

• See the pretty coastline between Arisaig and Morar, espceially the Back of Keppoch. Both have trains from Mallaig.
• See Glenfinnan Viaduct close to the Road to the Isles - as seen in the Harry Potter films!
