Aomori is divided into three main regions, each with their own dialect.

  • TsugaruTsugaru is on the west side of the prefecture, and includes Aomori and Hirosaki.
  • NanbuNanbu occupies the southeastern part of the prefecture, and includes Hachinohe and MisawaMisawa.
  • Shimokita Peninsula is the axe-shaped peninsula in the northeast, and includes OmaOma and Mutsu.
